  • To design and build super insulated buildings with proportional levels of thermal mass that are made from local materials. In central Ontario, that’s primarily straw, earth, wood and stone.
  • To design and build natural, healthy, nurturing and inspiring spaces for and with the people who will inhabit them.
  • To be part of and accountable to a community of like minded, conscientious and good people.
  • To minimize construction waste through resource efficient design and on-site organization including separating waste into recyclables, garbage and wood.
  • To design and build buildings to last by heeding water in all its various forms. As the old adage goes, water always wins.
  • To continue to love my work by not doing too much of it.
  • To work on other peoples building's as if they were my own.
  • To create constantly.
"Therefore when we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us. And let us think as we lay stone on stone that a time is to come when the stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them." John Ruskin, 1819-1900 Essayist, Critic & Reformer
